U13's announce new coaching team

It is with regret that the club announce that Michael Cookson has left as coach of the U13's team. Michael leaves the club due to family commitments following the recent birth of his daughter.

Michael had been instrumental in the formation of the Under 13 team and had built a great team who were just starting to find their feet in the league.

It is disappointing news, but the club wish to place on record their appreciation for the work and effort he has put in.

The club have been quick to find a replacement having been approached by Glenn Joyce. Glenn is a FA Level 2 qualified coach, holds FA teaching certificates and is CRC checked.

Glenn is a former semi pro having played in the north east for 15 years. After moving over to Lancashire with work he joined and played for Garstang FC and was part of the squad that won the Lancashire shield. He later coached and was assistant manager of the club.

Glenn also played cricket for Garstang and one of his sons Matt still plays cricket for Longridge CC. His daughter Danielle is also a highly acclaimed personal trainer and owns her own fitness centre in Longridge. His middle son Andrew is a much watched and lauded player at Garstang and the youngest son Nathan plays for the under 13's. More recently (2012 - 2017). Glenn was the football coach for Garstang St Thomas school guiding the team to win multiple trophies through that period.

He is always indebted to the support he receives from his partner Julie, which is the vital part in the making of a great coach.

Glenn will be assisted by Steven Young and the two of them will be keen to start working immediately with the boys. The club are extremely grateful to them for accepting the role and look forward to exciting times for the boys.
